Dr. Jake Seeman always had a deep connection with animals, in part because he grew up in a house with numerous pets, including a golden retriever, several German shepherds, a Siberian husky, many cats, birds, and a turtle, all of which he considered his best friends. Though he did not know in his youth that this was to be his calling, it came to him like a bolt of lightning in college and he has never looked back since. His passion is in nurturing and healing animals and preserving the bond between them and their owners, which has been so important to him.
“Dr. Jake” joins Bayview Animal Hospital with 14 year of experience, in both San Diego, California, and South Florida, including becoming Chief of Staff. He studied marine biology and population genetics at the University of Southern California, graduating with honors before returning to Louisiana where he grew up to attend Louisiana State University Veterinary School. He attained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, where he graduated in the top 2% of his class. In the years since graduation he has developed a passion for internal medicine and urology, as well as soft tissue surgery.
When Dr. Jake is not in the hospital treating patients, he can usually be found reading, keeping fit, or working in the kitchen where he is assisted by his two dogs, Booster and Ren, his two kittens, Toro and Bastian, and his first cat Reggie who turned 20 this year. He also spends much of his time working on his aquariums or with his family, and has had a lifelong passion for comics.
Dr. Jake is very excited to join the Bayview Animal Hospital team, which has an amazing reputation in his neighborhood. “I look forward to working with you to keep your loved companions happy, healthy, and well cared for. With honesty, communication, and compassion we can make sure that they live their best lives by your side!”
